THE ISSUES

What's your issue?

Wear it.

Citizand transfers are temporary, but can make a lasting impression with your help.  Imagine walking into a bar.  You see that one out of every four people is wearing what looks like a temporary tattoo.  It's a conversation starter.  What is that on your arm?  What does it mean?  With permission, you scan someone's code.  It doesn't tell you who this person is... no name... no address... no phone number... but what it does tell you is what this person believes in.  Yes, the code can be scanned by anyone, yet you remain an anonymous advocate -- someone passionate enough to literally wear what is in their heart on their sleeve.  The Citizand transfer provides a new way to express yourself while supporting the cause or causes you care about.  No rubber bracelet required.

Humanitarian Emergency

SYRIA

Each month, we collectively support a population in dire need.  This month, we are supporting UNHCR's response to the crisis in Syria.  The approaching winter is sure to make life for those affected by the ongoing crisis—estimated to be at least 2.5 million people—even more difficult.  As temperatures plunge, living conditions are expected to significantly worsen, particularly for displaced children and families. Many of the displaced are now living in refugee camps in neighboring countries and temporary shelters such as schools and other public buildings. Inadequate protection from the cold can be fatal for young children. Warm clothing and bedding, access to health care, warm and dry shelter, hot food, and warm learning spaces are all required for their survival.

Education

GLOBAL EFFORT

A quality education is critical to the development of individuals and societies.  It helps pave the way to a successful and productive future, creating a ripple effect of opportunity that influences generations to come.  Education can also end generational cycles of poverty and disease and provides a foundation for sustainable development.  UNICEF supports the development of national capacities to reduce gender and other disparities and discrimination against children who are out of school. This includes girls; children from poor households or living in rural areas; children belonging to ethnic and linguistic minorities, indigenous groups and castes facing discrimination; and children affected by HIV/AIDS or disabilities.

Environment

CLIMATE CHANGE

350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. 350.org conducts online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions -- led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries.  As we conclude 2012 -- the hottest year on record for the United States -- the 350.org network continues to become more global, more strategic, and more focused on building an unstoppable movement for climate solutions.
